I don't pretend that I'm a professional singer, but I can certainly sing. I
have a strong voice, I can read music, harmonise and lend my voice
to different styles.
I've recently started to write my own songs, with the plan to play them on the comedy/cabaret circuit, accompanying myself on the guitar. I've had a few gigs so far that have been muchly encouraging and muchly enjoyable. Get in touch if you're interested in booking me. I'm hoping to record 'em all too and eventually sort some videos out. Here's what I gots for you at the moment: * Click on the titles to play *

'REALLY AND TRUE'
Lois Tucker: vocal, guitar, kazoo Jae Kerwood: thigh slapping, faux glockenspiel, faux accordian |
First song I'd written in ages that eventually kickstarted this new venture! It is honestly and truly not written about anyone.
(For those with a more offendable disposition than my own, there is mild 'language' from the start...) |
|
'THE LAST TWO ZOMBIES IN THE WORLD'
Lois Tucker: vocal, guitar, clapping, whistling, zombie noises Jae Kerwood: clapping, whistling, zombie noises, stoopid sound effects Immi Tucker: hungry whistling |
A jaunty number about the end of the world as we know it.
|
|
'LOVESONG 333'
Lois Tucker: vocal, guitar Jae Kerwood: hundreds and thousands |
This one features some very nifty cake based percussion...

|
'A CHINESE FOOD LOVING VEGETARIAN'S LAMENT - LIVE'
(Based on Whitney Houston's version of 'I Will Always Love You' by Dolly Parton) Lois Tucker: vocal, guitar, kazoo with delusions of grandeur |
This was recorded live during an interview I had on Leith FM
during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. |
|
'ME AND MR BONES - LIVE'
(Based on Billy Paul's version of 'Me and Mrs Jones' by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff) Lois Tucker: vocal, guitar, meows |
This was recorded in my bedroom for a 'not live' session for The Other Woman Podcast.
It is about my cat Mr Bones who I've been fostering through the RSPCA since April 09. He's an old black and white cat who suffers from hyperthyroidism, has bad back legs, liver problems, probably heart problems and who's had basically all of his teeth removed because they were rotting. When they found him they reckoned he was the skinniest cat they'd ever seen and thought he had about a week left to live. He's the soppiest, loveliest most talkative cat who purrs all the time, and everyone who meets him falls in love with him - even if they don't like/are afraid of cats. He is a LEGEND and I will record this song properly at some point, sampling his meows... :) (You can find a picture of him here.) |
|
'THE LAST TWO ZOMBIES IN THE WORLD - LIVE'
Lois Tucker: vocal, guitar, whistling, zombie noises |
This was also recorded for for The Other Woman Podcast. |
|
'REALLY AND TRUE - LIVE - CLEAN VERSION!'
Lois Tucker: vocal, guitar, kazoo |
This was also recorded live during the interview on Leith FM.
(Due to this being a day time radio show - I de-blued it...) |
Here are some other bits and bobs I had hanging around my hard drive, some better quality than others, but you get the idea...
|
|
'SHUFFLE ON'
Anthony Byas: music Lois Tucker: melody and lyrics |
My friend Anthony of 7suns came to me with some guitar tracks he'd recorded, asking me to write melody
and lyrics for them. Here's the first one I've managed to get around to completing. (I will do some more at some point Anthony. Sorry it's taking so long!)

|
'COME
TO ME'
Jason Ware: music and lyrics Lois Tucker: harmony |
This is taken from the Soundtrack to Jason Ware's film 'Pink
Cake'.
|
|
'NEW COAT OF PAINT'
Tom Waits |
Me, acapella, not sounding anything like Tom Waits.
|
|
'OH
MISTRESS MINE'
(Set to Milt Buckner's 'The Beast') Mr William of the Shakespeare: words Lois Tucker: melody 'COME AWAY DEATH' (Set to Jack Fascinato's 'Spring, Sprang, Sprung') Mr William of the Shakespeare: words Lois Tucker: melody |
I was part of an all female version of 'Twelfth
Night', Directed by Sarah Esdaile.
I wrote the melody for both of these songs for the actress playing Feste to sing - who did a much better job of it than me! |
|
'COOKIES
FORTUNE' and
'U METAL IDIOT' by I Eat Fog |
I'm guest lead vocal on both tracks. I re-wrote
my vocal line in the chorus of 'Cookies Fortune' and adapted the
verses of 'U Metal Idiot'. |
|
'BUSY
LINE'
Rose Murphy |
Recorded by me rather early in the morning,
hence the sometimes wobbly voice! I might re-record it with a
better voice on me,
but this version does have its charms... |
|
'BURDEN
IN MY HAND'
Soundgarden 'SIMPLE AS THAT' Lois Tucker 'GIVE ME A LIST' Shirley Ellis (segued into the chorus of 'Frances Farmer will have her Revenge on Seattle' by Nirvana and then followed up with a mini Superman encore) |
These three songs were performed with my brother
Jae
during the
Summer of 2004, at a club called Velouria - run by
my inimitable
friend
Glen
Strachan.
This was the only ever gig I've done with my guitar until Summer 2010. I was a bit nervous but I warmed up as we went on You can vaguely hear my guitar in the righthand speaker - the mic pointed in front of it wasn't plugged into the whatsitbob that was recording us, I think, so you can just pick out what was picked up by my vocal mic. It's all a bit rough and ready but you get the idea! |
| 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' | I roughly cobbled this together for my friend Steve's
birthday a few years
ago. I overlaid my voice with the only
editing software I had available
to me at the time, which wasn't ideal!
(Please note the metronome
at the beginning which was to keep me in
time with meself.) |
